Measurementes shed light on the current climatic conditions within a certain area. They are useful when it comes to capturing the present status, however, they do hardly allow a precise prediction of future changes.

The main advantage of model calculations on the other hand is that they allow us not only to simulate the current conditions but also future scenarios. Therefore predictions become possible, for example for the effects of planned building measures.
